Hope and Encouragement During COVID-19
In response to monthly senior events being canceled, we replaced these events with weekly phone calls to 40+ seniors each week. One of the seniors who has benefited greatly from The Beth’s services is Ms. Ruthann, a strong woman who lives in our community and is caring for a family member with persistent health concerns. The first week, we called to ask if she needed anything. She replied, “Whatever you can give me.” We read her a list which included meal replacement drinks, reusable face masks, food, toiletries, and more.
She made her requests, and we told her the items would be delivered to her later that week. Her appreciation was evident as she explained how our call was an answer to prayer, as she had just been asking the Lord for those very items.
When calling for the next weekly check-in, we were greeted by Ms. Ruthann’s praise and worship to God! She explained that her sister had been struggling to let go of some unhealthy foods, but because of the meal replacement shakes, she now consistently requests a shake instead of the unhealthy items. This is a huge milestone because changing her eating habits will have a tremendous positive impact on her health.
It was a blessing to learn that such a small act made such an impact on Ms. Ruthann and her family.
