The Bethlehem Leadership Unit (B.L.U.)
What is B.L.U.
The Bethlehem Leadership Unit (B.L.U.) is a leadership training program for high school students in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area.
BLU seeks to empower youth with the tools they need to be effective citizens by introducing them to the concept of being a leader who serves and values innovation.
We use leadership camps and trips during fall break and spring break, entrepreneurship workshops, mentoring, activities, and leadership curriculum to show students how to lead others.
Our desire is that BLU will inspire these young change-makers to believe that they can be competent leaders in their schools and communities.
B.L.U. students will receive:
- Membership into an elite group
- Fun learning opportunities
- Exclusive activities
- Networking opportunities
- Leadership development
- Real world problem-solving skills
- Lasting friendships
B.L.U. is a group who wants to give other youth a platform to share stories of their experiences, both positive and negative.
With help from Causeway and a few mentors, B.L.U. created a social enterprise that brings awareness to the need for additional resources within youth programming. These are their short, self-directed films called the “Success and Sorrow” series.
B.L.U. students also designed retail items and developed a marketing plan to sell them, with all proceeds benefiting the youth organization of their choice.
