A "Real Gangster" came to the Save Our Sons program on June 24, 2009.
Terrell "TJ" Johnson, the president and CEO of the Wake Up Youth Foundation, spent hours with the girls and boys at the Bethlehem Center talking to them about the power of Christ to keep them out of gangs and heal those who are part of gangs.TJ was one of the toughest drug kingpins and gang leaders in Memphis before he was saved by Christ. By the age of 15, TJ already earned more than a half a million dollars. And He was driving his own porsche by 17.
AMAZING AND POWERFUL THINGS HAPPENED!
More than forty boys came forward at the end of the presentation to say they wanted to give their lives to Christ and be baptized! Link Nya's view of Gang Violence SOS
One child, the nine-year-old son of a gang member, asked if he was in a gang because his father was and what he should do. TJ and his wife helped him to understand that the power of Christ is stronger than the bonds of any gang.
The children took part in a drama where simply associating with gang activity led to the death of one of the boys. The Wake Up Youth Foundation helped the youth and staff see how easy it is to get tangled up in gangs and destroy your future.

Cordarius made a powerful choice for Christ and helped us all to learn that we must wait on the Lord and we will be rewarded. Early in TJ's presentation, Cordarius was offered a large box of candy, sweets, and money which represented evil and the devil. He was also offered one quarter that represented Jesus and life. You could see in Cordarius's face that he wanted the treats and money, but he chose Jesus! At the end of the presentation Cordarius was given the whole box of treats, and twice the amount of money that he was initally offered with the box.
